Halifax

We are proud to serve clients across Yorkshire. Halifax is the largest town in the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale in West Yorkshire and at the south-eastern corner of the South Pennines. It is a charming market town famous for its wool production and boasting some of the best Victorian and Georgian landmarks in the country.

Halifax is approximately 7 miles from both Bradford and Huddersfield, 14 miles west of Leeds and 18 miles north-west of Wakefield. It is around 75 miles from Hull and 65 miles from Liverpool. Halifax has good road connections and is four miles from the M62 motorway with links to the M1, M6 and A1. The major road routes around Halifax are the A629, which is the main road that joins Halifax to Huddersfield, Elland and Keighley; the A58, which connects it to Leeds and Littleborough and the A646 that runs to Todmorden. There are several car parks located around Halifax as well as well as on street parking that offer parking between 1-4 hours using pay and display metres.

Halifax is on the Caldervale train line, with other stations at Brighouse, Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and Walsden. Halifax train station has services to Manchester Victoria, Blackpool North, Huddersfield, Leeds, York, Ellesmere Port, Bradford, Hull and Chester. The service to Hull is a new direct service that started operating at the end of 2019, thereby increasing the transport links with Halifax. There is also now a direct train to London Kings Cross from Halifax that takes just three hours. There are also regular bus services run by First Group between Halifax, Calder Valley and Huddersfield, Yorkshire Tiger that cover the south Calderdale services and offers routes to Ripponden, Bridhouse, Walnstalls, Clarmount, Northowram, Wibsey and Mill Bank among others and Arriva Yorkshire buses that offers services around the town centre as well as to Leeds, Dewsbury and Cleckheaton.

For family law matters, the Court that covers Halifax is the Bradford Combined Court Centre based at Exchange Square, Drake Street, Bradford, BD1 1JA. This is right in the centre of Bradford just over the road from Bradford Interchange Train Station with several car parks in the surrounding streets. It is a few minutes’ walk from Bradford Magistrates Court.
